Thatchers Rock is the largest of the Rock Islands off Torquay.  The diverse marnine life there thrives on the currents that sweep past.

Thatchers Rock is the biggest of the 'Rock Islands' off Torquay.  It stands nearly 45m high, and is just under 200m from the end of Meadfoot Beach nearest Thatchers Point, where undoubtably it was once attached.  Due to the strong tidal flows in the area, the current loving marine life is more abundant here than in many of the sheltered bays.  Dead Mens Fingers and Jewel Anemones are common here, as well as the ever popular crabs and prawns living in the plentiful crevices.
