Annual Halloween Fancy Dress Dive!!

Its that time of year when we start thinking about our Annual Halloween Fancy Dress Dive!!

The dive is on Thursday 27th October meeting at Babbacombe beach at 19:00 or at the Dive Centre by 18:30 for kit hire etc.

The Underwater Realm.... A Great PADI Open Water Course!!

Over the last couple of weeks the Diving Centre, mainly through Karel has been running an intensive Open Water Diver Course for a local film company, Realm Pictures.

This has been a really interesting project for us to be involved in as the team at Realm Pictures were learning new skills so they could produce a film set entirely underwater!! Great vis, flat seas and even a pod of dolphins

Divers in Plymouth have enjoyed great vis over the past few days with 8m at Eastern Kings, 8-10m on the Glen Strathallen and the Elk. The trip to the Elk was even better this morning when a pod of dolphinsa put in an appearance to almost escort the divers to the dive site :-)

Fingers crossed this great vis and flat sea conditions will be around for a while. We have lots of dives coming up through out March and the schedule is on the Plymouth calander. Next weekend [...]

Great vis on the Persier and Glen :-)

Even though it may have been rather chilly this weekend, divers had great vis on the Persier and Glen Strathallen which was around 6-8m with lots of conger eels on the Persier and a Thornback Ray on the Glen Strathallen which unfortunately i missed i was too busy looking for the Tompot Blenny in the back of the boiler :-( Oh well there is always next time.

As the vis is good at the mo why not make the most of it we have dives from Plymouth & Teignmouth this Sunday 19th December [...]

December Dive Club Night

Tuesday December the 7th at TCYC will be our last club night of 2010 except of course for the Christmas party!!!

December sees us having a quiz night written by 2 of our Instructors who will also be hosting it !! a good fun evening with prizes for the winners and a few pints available for those who wish to enjoy !!

Good viz at Babbacombe

We had a lovely dive last night at Babbacombe. The Viz was surprisingly good at 4/5 metres. We spent over an hour under water and there was lots of life including 3 or 4 John Dory's patrolling the bay. If you fancy joining us for a Thursday night dive ring the centre.

Great November Club Night!!

Tuesday night was our monthly club night and as ever a great turn out of over 30 people!! This months speaker was Terry Griffiths, a local diver and very keen photographer!!

Viz in Babbacombe is 10m this week!!

As ever we had our Thursday evening night dive to babbacombe last night. The visibility in the bay at the moment is stunning with 10m reported from last night even with Katharine's underwater candle!!! Looks like conditions for the weekend will be pretty good so why not get out diving on seaquest, we do have some spaces left!! If not remember we have a regular Thursday evening shore dive and next Friday, 29/10/10 is our annual Halloween dive!!

Great Diving in Plymouth this weekend

After some patchy weather over the last few weeks, divers had some excellent diving over the weekend. With trips to Hand Deeps, James Eagan Layne and Pier Cellers. Even the guys diving off the shore had good dives too. Here's hoping the calm weather is here to stay.....

Dive Centre Summer BBQ

With the summer in full swing with good weather and great vis we thought it was about time for the annual dive centre summer BBQ. This year we'll be returning to the Blue Anchor pub in Teignmouth on Saturday 10th July for a night of fun and amusement and lots and lots of food to keep even the hungriest of divers happy.....

We will also be having a bit of a send off for Russ who is leaving us as full time member of staff, but he will continue to teach on a part-time basis [...]

Divers have had good vis over the past few days, with 6m off the shore at the waterfront on Wednesday and Thursday as well as 8m at the Eddystone Reef on Monday, they even had a dolphin put in an appearance jumping out of the water. With the weather looking good for the weekend now is the time to get in the water.

Dive Centre Holidays 2010 & 2011

After much anticipation we have the dates for the centre dive trips for both Egypt and ice diving.....

Firstly, after the success of trips last year will we be returning to Egypt this September. We will be flying at on Saturday 18th September and returning home the morning of Sunday 26th September 2010. Fantastic Dive at Hatt Rock

Divers had an amazing dive at Hatt Rock this morning. With 10-12m visibility they were still able to see the surface at 15m. The top of the Hatt Rock was covered in many different coloured Jewel Anemones as well as number of Plumose Anemones, Sea Cucumbers and Sea Urchins, now is definitely the time to be in the water.

There are still some spaces on the trips over the Bank Holiday weekend so why not give us a call to book your space so you don't miss [...]

Easter Egg Hunt 2010

Thank you to everyone who turned out on Saturday 10 April for our Easter Egg Hunt Dive.

It was a beautiful day with sunshine and blue skies and the diving didn't let us down. The in water temperature was being recorded at a tropical 10 degrees centigrade and the vis was averaging about 5-6 metres. It was a great pleasure to be in clearish water with sunlight dappling on the sea bed.

Good Viz at Babbacombe Beach

The regular Thursday night dive went ahead as usual last week on 25th March and we were pleasantly surprised with a good 4 metres visability at Babbacombe Beach.

To allow for low water we headed east behind the breakwater to find lots of life, long spined Scorpion fish, butter fish and top knot to name a few. According to my computer the temperature has risen 1 degree to a balmy 7 degrees :)

The weather may not have been spectacular at the weekend but the sighting of a pod of 7-10 dolphins made for an excellent day on Sunday. The pod was spotted on the way back in from the first dive around the breakwater and one popped up about a metre from the boat and then stayed around in the wake for a few minutes. The group on the second dive also got a chance to see this pod as they were still out around the breakwater as the dive boat to Fairylands' headed out.
