Whats Diving in the Dive Centre....?
Despite the limited visibility diving still took place today at Longquarry and on the Perrone. The weather forecast is varied for the next few days and we're hoping things will calm down soon. Don't assume diving isn't taking place, ring us and see.
Big Thanks to Jude for helping me with the stand we had at the Healthy Living Fun Day at Broadmeadow yesterday! I think it was a very sucessful day considering the weather so thank you to everyone who came and to all the organisers! If you didn't get chance to get up to the sports centre you missed out on some interesting stands ranging from Magnetic Healing to Hypnotherapy, there were smoothies to try, belly dancers... yes belly dancers to watch, and even some chaps from the army doing a fitness demonstration! ooo err! Overall a great fun day! Remember to keep checking the website for offers and diving schedules, also make sure you get your tickets for the christmas party!! £20/ticket includes a three course meal and some wine on the table! Santa may even make an appearance! :) The Club Night for December is on Tuesday 1st and our guest speaker this month is Paul Naylor who is the author of 'Great British Marine Animals' Hopefully see you all diving soon! Helen.
Well the conditions in this part of the world have held up remarkably well considering the recent weather!! Viz in Babbacombe was reported yesterday as 3-4m and likewais on Thursday night. We will be trying to keep this up todate as much as possible over the winter!!
Halloween came early this year to the Teign Diving Centre and was celebrated on Thursday (29th October) with a fancy dress night dive at Babbacombe Beach. A huge amount of effort went into the costumes and it was a sight behold watching gouls, warlocks, dracula and even giant pumpkins entering the water. Although the viz was limited a good dive was had by all with reports of a wide variety of marine life in the bay. Many thanks to all of you who took part and for your contribution towards DDRC, a worthy cause that we all hope we won't be using. Night dives will be taking place on Thursday evenings throughout the autumn and winter months, weather permitting, details of which can be obtained through the dive centre.
As many of you will already know there is a major concert in teignmouth on Friday and saturday night, the band Muse are coming home to perform on the Seafront!!
So we will be restricted in our diving on Saturday...... however we now have some parking arrangements with Teignbridge so if you are looking to dive in the morning on saturday let us know..... we will probably sort the site to suit the divers who are coming!!
Cheers
Mark
Well the time has arrived when Sophie has decided that filling tanks and teaching at Watcombe with 1m vis isn't all its cracked up to be..... She's off to University to study, get drunk and become a paramedic (Maybe not in that order!). So we thought we'd have a little party for her on Friday 18th Septmeber at the Jolly Sailor in Teignmouth from 7pm onwards. Hope to see you all there......
The sun may have disappeared but the visibility is still good, with flat seas and a little bit of rain!!! the guys had around 8m on the Mewstone this morning. There are still places on the JEL if you wants to dive.
Hi All As ever at the Diving Centre we are looking at deals for our members especially on Bank holiday weekends...... So....... For Saturday, Sunday and Monday 23-25 May 09 all current members will get free air fills for their personal cylinders!! obviosuly this will only apply to Cylinders filled at Teignmouth by us............ The forecast is looking good and we have 5m Viz at the Shore around Teignmouth and 8m offshore at Plymouth, with sunshine and low winds then we should have a great weekend for diving so give the centre a call or email us to get diving!!!
Despite the fact everyone said it was going to rain..... we had an excellent trip to Lundy last Sunday (although a little choppy!!). Good vis and the seals even put in an appearance for a couple of divers :-) With that in mind we have managed to get a fourth trip orgainsed on Sunday 27th September. Contact the office to avoid missing out......
Despite a slightly lumpy sea, diving this moring was said to be one of the best so far this month. With 10m vis on the Elk and 'Albert' out friendly conger eel even put in an appeareance for feeding time - courtesy of our in-house congor copper Mr Pennington!!!! Here's to some good diving this weekend ;-) |
