Tea Coffee and hot drinks will be available at the beach. Drop us an email to let us know your coming and join in the fun!!
Over the last couple of weeks the Diving Centre, mainly through Karel has been running an intensive Open Water Diver Course for a local film company, Realm Pictures. This has been a really interesting project for us to be involved in as the team at Realm Pictures were learning new skills so they could produce a film set entirely underwater!! The Course was also required so that the Team could shoot some footage and effects in Pinewood Studios world famous U Stage. In doing this, and to keep their blog up to date they shot some great footage of their training both in the pool, kindly supplied by Sea & Sea, and also at our local Open Water training site. Check out their blog and website here http://www.theunderwaterrealm.com blog week 21!! Take a look at The Underwater Realm site to keep up with this filming project and show your support for the project!! I know we had a great time with the Realm Pictures Team making a conpressed course great fun for all involved from our end, especially Karel who has a bit of a starring role in the blog footage!! We will follow the project with interest, and look forward to seeing the film!!

Tuesday night was our monthly club night and as ever a great turn out of over 30 people!! This months speaker was Terry Griffiths, a local diver and very keen photographer!! Terry has spent several years diving local sites particularly Babbacombe where he can be found for many hours regularly exploring and last night he showed us some of his amazing photo's of the bay!! I think it is fair to say that most of us didnt realise there was so much in Babbacombe bay!! Many thanks again to Terry and keep your eyes open in Babbacombe next time your down there!! Quick reminder about the Christmas Party on 17th December at 18:30 at the Pickwick as ever! Tickets on sale for £20 each.

Our Search & Recovery students had a good days diving at the Waterfront recently. A special well done to them for finding all the items we'd hid for them to find and recover (plus a few extra items, who knew the sea had so many hub caps!!!).
Despite the poor weather of late the Thursday evening dives are running as planned. So far this year we've had pretty limited visibility above and below the surface and cooler than average temperatures but with the right preparation this shouldn't stop us from diving. We are finding the need to wear warmer clothes for the pre dive and post dive period and whilst the temperature in the water is a little lower than usual for the time of year heavier thermals and gloves are allowing us to continue to dive. If you fancy a shore dive after work ring the centre to let them know. We can arrange to transport cylinders and/or kit to the dive site for you if you can't get to the dive centre first. A quick call will ensure that you know if conditions are suitable, where we're diving and at what time.
Over 40 people braved the weather to attend Decembers Club Night and hat a fun night it was! Paul Naylor who is the author of 'Great British Marine Animals' was our guest speaker and gave a fasinating talk about all manner of sealife and their behaviours. He took us on a vertual dive starting in the shallows by the shoreline with some amazing information on anemones and limpets. It continued into deeper water describing the mating habits of Crabs and Sea Hares! He had some amazing photos of Gobies, Spider crabs, Nudibranch, Pipefish, A very friendly Seal.... I could go on! He ended the evening with a quiz based on his talk which was very entertaining to all, seeing who remembered the most! The winning score was 21/24!! Congratulations to Mark Hooper and Co!! A big thanks to Paul Naylor for such a Informative talk with a twist and thank you to everyone who came! Our next talk will be the beginning of February!! See you all there! Helen
Big Thanks to Jude for helping me with the stand we had at the Healthy Living Fun Day at Broadmeadow yesterday! I think it was a very sucessful day considering the weather so thank you to everyone who came and to all the organisers! If you didn't get chance to get up to the sports centre you missed out on some interesting stands ranging from Magnetic Healing to Hypnotherapy, there were smoothies to try, belly dancers... yes belly dancers to watch, and even some chaps from the army doing a fitness demonstration! ooo err! Overall a great fun day! Remember to keep checking the website for offers and diving schedules, also make sure you get your tickets for the christmas party!! £20/ticket includes a three course meal and some wine on the table! Santa may even make an appearance! :) The Club Night for December is on Tuesday 1st and our guest speaker this month is Paul Naylor who is the author of 'Great British Marine Animals' Hopefully see you all diving soon! Helen.
