Richard Clarke..... "Wreck Detective", great success!!

Tuesday 2nd Septemebr saw the monthly club night hosted again at the Teign Corinthian Yacht Club, TCYC, with our monthly guest speaker Richard Clarke.

Richard has been a member of the Centre for many years and has given several talks over the past 4 seasons for Club Night ranging from local marine life and photography to wrecks in Lyme Bay.

WIth his Naval background wrecks have always been a fascination for Richard and his talks on wrecks dont simply cover the wreck and its history but some of the identifying factors when wreck diving.

• How to identify differant types of propulsion systems (Engines!)
• How wreck structure can help you to navigate the wreck.
• Wreck Features.
• Scales of wrecks, to give you some idea of size by tonnage!

Richard has now taken his Hobby and Passion one stage further and setup his own website www.divesouthdevon.com where he has posted much of his wreck research for local divers to review and also to forward information they have to Richard to include in his Dbase!

Richards talk for September was "Wreck Detective" and more than 30 people attended to see some of his findings and information on wrecks that we are frequently diving and probably in most cases, have very little knowledge of!
